No. They will run side-by-side

But don't be surprised if you can't install third party add-ons into 2011 if you have 2010 installed.

In my experience if you try to install something like ReSharper or InstallShield they recognize the first application in the directory (thus first alphabetically) and install there.

The only way I could successfully install all my add-ons into multiple versions of VS was to install in reverse alaphbetic order:

2011 then the add-ons
2010 then the add-ons again so they would register with 2010

Hey tlhin'toq Thanks for the answer I really like the look of the ReShaper although as i don't do free-lance programming(still a student on placement) it would not warrant me buying it.

Anyways I installed VS2011 and windows 8 onto virtual-box no problems and i had a look a the new metro style apps. However when i installed VS2011 onto my Windows 7 OS the metro apps are not included so i can only ascertain that VS2011 + metro apps must be run on Windows 8 (weird) i would have thought they could have a allowed VS to run the metro apps on Windows 7 just not install-able on Windows 7. It's just a bit annoying that to develop for metro you will need windows 8 OS

Metro is a feature of the OS. Win7 doesn't have it. Its not about VS having the feature, its about being on an OS to support it.
