DIgital Withdrawal Symptoms?

Posted 15 June 2012 - 08:22 PM

How long do you think you could before you start suffering Digital Withdrawal Symptoms?

Without a ...
Mobile phone?
Computer?
Internet Connection?

Had to box up my computers at home, whist they work on the house. Since they're rewiring the electrics and I hate for them to blow up the system. So after the first day I missing them and the fast reliable cable connection. Still another week left without it.
It's not helping having stay in waiting and protecting your procession all day.

Do you any experience of suffering from Digital Withdrawal? What recommendation and suggestion help you?

There's always the obligatory masturbate, but I can see how that might hard sans the internet. Southpark covered that well.

There's always tv... find local events to go to every evening.. crack a book.. dig a hole in the back yard.. pick up some clay and make a model.. play some board games.. crack a pen and paper d&d/hackmaster game.. sit outside with some beer and enjoy the sound of silence.. etc..

This is the only thing that's making me hesitate to send my computer in to no2pencil's shop for repair.

Internet Connection?

not very long; the other stuff I can do without for a while. so long as I have a device that can display webpages and allow me to click links I can survive at least a week without the other stuff. I know I use my phone as more of a mobile web page displayer than anything else.

+1. As long as I can browse the sites I want, I can live without everything else.

This thread is really relevant. I just went a week without internet or video games to prove to my mom that I wasn't addicted to them. Really I just did other things (swim, read, ect.) I think I could handle not having technology.

phone? probably not that long, but then again that's mostly because I don't want people to think I'm mad at them if I don't call/text them back.

computer/internet connection? easy, my old laptop had to be repaired for a month and I survived with reading or watching tv. internet connection, I'm used to living where there is no internet :D

tv? I can do without

xbox? if I have something else to do I'm good

Computer/Internet is probably the most difficult for me. However, I find that its a hell of a lot easier to drop those things if you already plan to do other stuff instead of be using that device. When I'm at home, the kids or my wife usually have the TV, so TV and Xbox are a rarity for me. I have my laptop, so that's what I'm on most of the time. It was easy to give up for a week when I went to Cancun, though.
