A requirement for a particular IT Job is to: "Maintain room servers"
what exactly does this requirement imply that i need to know? and how can i learn it?


same question for this requirement: "Configure wireless devices to access network"

Probably stuff like -

• Tidy cables
  
• Keep fans clean
  
• Proabably have some kind of label system depending on size
  
• Make sure you always have adequate cooling
  
• More cable management
  
• Check batteries on UPS equipment if you have them
  
• Monitor Ac
  
• etc
  
• etc

Depends on what wireless devices you will be handling. Could be something as simple as keeping record of security keys or whatever, or it could be something more complicated.

Sounds like setting up WiFi routers, access points, bridges and repeaters for a wireless network.

employers want someoen with knowledge to run their very expensive equipment and if you go in there saying you know how to run the stuff and you dont-- you are straight up lying to the employer which is grounds for immediate termination. You should never go after a job you have no clue about because not only can you screw up the equipment you will be out of a job and possibly sued for misinformation..

yeah that is a good point but generally speaking if you know what you are doing then you know what the job description usually means. But sometimes when HR puts it out there you really dont.......just saying

In my area, HR generally posts the job but puts the most general description out there. From what I've seen people in the project do the actual hiring and know the technical details of the job. They just tell HR we need a person that can do this and hope HR posts enough details based on previous hirings to get them people who are qualified enough. Kind of a weird way to hire, but it's not my company.

My company does the same stuff --- and what is even weirder is that our hr does the initial screening which I find to be amusing because they have no idea what they are asking or how a question should be answered. To me that is unacceptable to have someone hire a technical person who themselves have absolutely 0 knowledge of the area. What is even scarier is that more and more companies are going down this path of dumb hiring practices.

Knock temperature control off of that list of responsibilities; many private IT firms are now offering high efficiency integrated temperature things.
