Networking savy python

How network savy is python as opposed to another scripting language like Ruby? I am guessing that the socket classes are the same, since that both language are implemented with C and use the BSD type socket. But what about the other stuff, I have seen on a few web pages that python is the choice of hacker who are writing networking tools.

No more or less savvy than any other language.
