Have my motherboard got pci express 2.0 or 3.0 ?

I have a asus m5a78l-m usb 3.0 and was thinking about buying a Asus GTX 580 which is pci express 2.0 or a ASUS Radeon HD 7850 which is pci express 3.0 just wondering if my motherboard will support the ASUS Radeon HD 7850 ? My motherboars says it supports
1 x PCIe x16
1 x PCIe x1
2 x PCI

From what I understand yes.. the pci3.0 card will work in a pci2 slot.

could i ask which of the cards are better to run the Asus GTX 580 or ASUS Radeon HD 7850 the hd 7850 is a pci express 3.0 and the 580 is a 2.0 and my board is only a 2.0 but did some googeling and was told id lose only 1% performance putting a pci express 3.0 into a 2.0 ...
