Intro from a newcomer

Posted 26 June 2012 - 03:53 PM

Hi all,

I'm getting back into higher learning after being out of school for nearly a decade. Recently completed a course on VB.Net and I've gotten the bug for developing my skills further. I'm currently interested in working with the .Net Framework and XML. I'd gladly appreciate any links or references to quality resources. Going forward I'll be looking into learning Java & C++ and potentially other languages.

I stumbled across this site while working on my course project and found the threads very useful.

At the moment I'm trying to rework that same media player project to fix several issues as well as to clean up the code.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 1

Thanks for the welcome, I hope I can be of help to others although I may not be up to snuff at this time I'll try to do what I can.

Out of curiosity does your name refer to Gibson's work?

Yeah it does. And a lot of things too. But the root of it is mainly Gibson's work. :)

If you want to read more...
Spoiler

By the way, I own three books but so far I've only read "Neuromancer". :)

Very Cool! :)

Neuromancer was my first, I actually have at least 4 kicking around here somewhere, also finished Count Zero but haven't had the time to really get into the others yet.

There are 4 books to "The Sprawl"? I thought it was a trilogy? I've read the second book on Gibson's next trilogy, "Idoru" and I own all three again. It was the first Gibson I read, and I totally fell in love with it. It reads like Elmore Leonard gone sci - fi, and I really love the future tech. ^^
