Hello everyone. I am working on starting an indie game studio and started cracking away at a website from scratch. As a disclaimer, I must warn you I am a programmer at heart but web development is certainly not my forte! This is the first site I have ever done.

I could also use a forum review-- I am slowly trying to build up the content and fix issues.

I know the site is horrid in IE and I need to "center" vertically as well as horizontally. Any thoughts?

Thanks-- that's a mock-up for the time being. We're working on another and some better stock photos as well.

Shockingly... not bad.

The major pitfalls are taken care of - logo is a link back to the main.. the nav bar shows where you are... The color scheme isn't offensive to my eyeballs nor bland like warm milk.

The logo has a little bit of white or something on the bottom right edge that needs removed..

That logo also could have a drop shadow that matches the one in the text... you know - versus this black outline/shadow thing..

In the 'about' you can probably make a more pretty submit button..

You forums do not continue the shading/color scheme as your site.. and it doesn't have your logo.. or a way to navigate back to your main site...

I have a lot of work to do with the forum and keeping it consistent. I will also try an speed up the new logo design. That's two reviews giving feedback about the logo, certainly something I must fix soon.

Looking good, and +1 on needing a new logo. One thing I will mention is that the mouse over on the nav bar is a little flakey. I kept losing the nav item when I'd move my mouse left to right over a menu item.

It appears to have something to do with transparent areas. While the tip of the pointer is over something solid it is fine it is only when the tip of the pointer is over something transparent.

I made a few of the changes, working on more-- I am pretty slow when it comes to CSS3

I have made quite a few more fixes! IE should be alright now.

I still have to solve that crazy mouse issue and the logo though.

Looks pretty darn good for a beginner in web design . I'm actually going to bookmark this site of yours because I am interested in app and game development. I took a class last year called video game marketing and design and I made pong using game maker. I was going to take the advanced version of the class this year an d develop a game and possibly port it to an app using Flash but I have no room in my upcoming schedule so I could take a look at your site to do it on my free time

Thanks-- I have a few tweaks I want to make to the site but it's slowly becoming more solid.

I keep plugging in tutorials and snippets trying to build up some content. I will certainly be including game tutorials as well-- it's my goal to make the site a small hub for indie game developers.

looking good.. I hope you don't mind a little criticism/biased opinions from my side..

Your html isn't valid. There is no element called image, use img instead. After your h1 elements you use h3 and then end them with a h2. There is no dtd declaration.

You're using both inline styling and external styling.
I think the grey menu box is a bit to tall.
25px border radius are a bit too much.
As others have said, your logo isn't that good.
You have standard table borders in your tutorials section.
The drop shadow on the page is a bit too much.
When you click links, there's a dotted outline.

Other than that it's looking pretty good. I like the colour theme and choice of font.

Thanks-- I can work on those. I did all of the html and css3 by hand in a plain text editor so I did end up making quite a few mistakes. Thanks for picking them up

I used a validator but the output from it didn't help me much. Your findings are very clear.

I see you fixed the mouse issue on the nav bar but lost the cool mouse over effect that you had. Hopefully you can get both to work nicely.
