Best 3d Graphics Library?

Posted 08 July 2012 - 08:59 AM

Before I invest time into learning a graphics library, I'd like to find out about some people experiences with various libraries such as Ogre and Irrlicht. If you have any recommendations feel free to post them. (I'm more of a procedural programmer)

The "best" library depends on intended purpose and features you are looking for.

Are you looking for, and rate them 1-9 in importance to you.
- easy extensibility
- multiple platform support
- technical support from original authors if you run into problems
- permissive license
- very high polygon throughput
- physics support
- code size
- cost: Are you will to pay per developer? Per copy released? Do you want it to be free?
- code stability: Do you care if each version is not backwardly compatible?

Cost wise, I'm not willing to pay for a library. If its really catches my interest then I may be willing to pay but only if its under $100. I would also like to refrain from writing particularly tedious code.
