It's funny how the government always spent millions upon millions to go into space and a Virgin mobile president did it for a fraction of the cost... makes you wonder doesnt it?
skeptical of government spending as I am, I can come up with several good reasons why this is the case. first off, when the US did it, we were doing it with no experience; we had to completely invent all of the tools and work out all the math for the first time. next, most of what the US did was to go to the moon so they were putting money towards going to the moon, not just into space/near space like virgin airways. not to mention all the advances in chemical engineering, materials, and computers.
I wouldn't be surprised if virgin could've done it more efficiently than the government but to say "fraction of the cost" is a bit misleading

I'd rather jump ship for an exoplanet in the Goldilocks Zone. Seems kind of scary if something were to go wrong on Mars. I'd have to really spend some time with the evac plans

I played M.U.L.E in school. If anyone can remember that. In fact, I'm surprised we had computers that could run M.U.L.E when I was at school. And that our school could afford them. And that someone hadn't punched the screen.
