There are about 4k zombies on the screen, but they bunch together so you can't see all of them. I can max out at 13k zombies before I see even a fraction of lag.

Just a screenie of the game my fiance and I are working on together. She is doing weapon art, and I am doing programming and just about all the other art.
There are about 4k zombies on the screen, but they bunch together so you can't see all of them. I can max out at 13k zombies before I see even a fraction of lag.

Looks very nice! I love the textures 
I'm currently also developing my zombie game and it's nice to see what other's made
One thing, you could try making some sort of flocking behavior for the zombies that they will not stack up but collide with each other because you can see for example 1 zombie but actually there are 100 stacked up and they will kill you quick... In my game I made a very simple collision detection between the zombies... it's not very effective but it's alright..

Havent posted on DIC in a while lol The game's collision is extremely different now 
I will post some pics, or the video I am working on. The original textures are not present, but that's because I rewrote the engine and just didn't throw the art in.
