Question: Force DIVs to container height - start new "column"

Posted 10 July 2012 - 01:50 AM

Hello.

I managed to place few DIVs, one below another in container DIV.
The container DIV has fixed height (about the height of 2 inner DIVs).
The problem is that the inner DIVs are drawn, in one "column", down and out of the container.

How can I make them start new "column" when reaching the height of the container?

Thanks.

AFAIK, not at all (well, not in the way you think). reason being that layout is handled in rows/lines, not in columns. (i.e. a <br> element’s effect is horizontal, not vertical)

you might get the desired effect with CSS3’s Multi-Column Module, but I don’t know whether how far that is implemented in browsers. (and I guess <div>s are not very useful there)
