Actually, out of most of the code editors avaiable for windows I found Crimson Editor to be one of the better ones.

Another Vim user here .

I used to use Notepad++ mainly, and was reluctant when I first looked at Vim, but after having learned how to use it, I could never to back!

I even use gVim on Windows .

Here's an update to my favorites list:

Gedit. Yeah, the all-purpose GNOME editor that comes with Ubuntu. It's freaking perfect for my needs. I always knew it had nice syntax highlighting, but when I tried programming with it I was turned off because it didn't handle tabs to my liking. However, since it's based on Scintilla just like Notepad++, it took only a single check mark in the preferences page to make it work fantastically. Set the font to Consolas, and you've got one awesome, lightweight text editor. Go Gedit! (that was probably the best unintentional pun in history, but no big deal. Might have to register that trademark.)

Mmm, Vim. At least when using Linux (or even Cygwin!) Whenever I have to do something Windows-y, I use Notepad++ or an IDE, or sometimes even IDLE for Python (that's not an IDE, and if you think it is, you're wrong). I've tried to use Emacs (twice), and I really don't like using the Ctrl key for everything. Sometimes when I've just installed Git and forgot to change the settings, I accidentally end up in Nano, and then I panic...
