Linux file quota (Limit amount of space assigned to user)

Is there a simple method to limit the amount of space a user can store on the hdd.

Are you talking about a local system or online hosting you are running?

That's the same question I was going to ask. Quota of the OS would be for system users, that log onto the system. Anyone authenticated through a web interface would require that interface to check file usage.

There is something like that called "Sub volume quota" that got introduced in the btrfs filesystem in Linux in the last release candidate for 3.6.
