any idea how to remove Word coding from documents

Posted 11 July 2012 - 01:07 PM

Let's say you have Word documents that people want to cut and past into an application but upon the cutting and pasting ??? show up at all the bullet points and there is some hidden codes as well which causes errors on uploads.

Does anyone know of any programs that can remove the coding from Word?

I have tried notepad
and saving the documents as various other extensions.

If the application you are pasting into has a Paste Special menu option, use that and select "Plain Text" or "Unicode Text" as the clipboard format. You can't stop Word from offering up it's various clipboard formats, but a good program should let you choose which clipboard formats it accepts for a given paste.

Or if you really want to convert the Word document to something else, goto File.Save As... and choose Document Type to be Plain Text.
