vb6 to vbnet speed reduction

Posted 14 July 2012 - 02:51 PM

Just wondering if anyone could explain why a process that took 2 - 3 seconds in VB6 now takes 11 - 12 seconds in VB.Net.
The code is essentially the same in both.
It basically reads about 900 records from a file selects about 70 that it needs, sorts them, displays text box controls on a form and then displays the data. Each part of this process now takes longer to run.

Get and sort 0.5 sec to 3.0 sec
Create text boxes 0.5 sec to 1.0 sec
display data 2.0 sec to 7.0 sec

I tried running the .exe on it's own and the results were the same.
