Hi,
So, I was playing SM3DL on my 3DS, and I was paying attention to the quality of the maps, cracks, lumps, bumps... The maps are similar style to Super Mario Galaxy, but could these complex designs be achieved by an advanced BSP engine, because of the convex and concave surfaces.

Yes, certainly. The BSP tree would serve as a reference to the structure of your world, but the actual attributes of your world and objects in that world will be implemented elsewhere, like a class structure for instance.
