new to this site looking for programming ideas

hi i am currently looking for any project ideas as to help me improve on my programming skills and i currently a college student i know programming languages like java visual basic sql mysql php javascript html i just want to create a simple project or two on my own where i can show future employers that i know how to create and troubleshoot apps
