I've got my eye on one of those samsung Note things as a way to get reading done on the go, in such a way that it fits in my pocket. And I wouldn't mind having a look at the suggestions of a dic reading group, although honestly I'd probably ignore a good portion of them and just read through the (enormous, now) list of books I want to, including some Hawking stuff, the collected works of Hitchens, and many other bits.

the kindle app on my phone is good if i get stuck somewhere when i wasn't planning for a wait, but it's in no way ideal. i wouldn't buy a phone as a primary reading device, but it's a nice to have for sure.

i haven't read much lately, but one of my favorite books is City of Thieves by David Benioff. a good wwii adventure novel set in Russia, with some subtle humor amidst the shittiness of wartime

The past three weeks I have powered through:

The "Ender's Game" Series --First few books were good and then it went downhill

The "Dune" Series -- First couple of books were good.

The "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" Series -- I enjoyed them all but one needs a healthy imagination and a solid sense of reality to make it through these books without going insane.

I hope this helps! Go on a Narrated Sci-Fi bender...my brain started narrating while I was in the bathroom the other day...that was weird.

Recently finished A Dance of Dragons (5th Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones book), and Consider Phlebas.

Trying to decide if I want to try Fantastic Voyage, pick up 1984 again, or do something completely different. Wonder if Tamora Pierce has any new books out...

I've accumulated a miniature library over the years with genre's ranging anywhere from Fantasy, Scifi, Horror, Western, Adventure, and even some Non-Fiction.

There are so many I am currently re-reading one of my favorite series already mentioned here:
The Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind. For anyone who likes this series, you should check out his latest work "The Law of 9's". It steps a bit away from his previous works but with his same flourishing style.

More fantasy than Terry Goodkinds work, I also enjoy Terry Brooks, especially his many feats with the Shannara *ologies.

My current favorite author is Patrick Rothfuss, though he has thus far released only two books, "The Name of The Wind" and "The Wise Mans Fear".

I also enjoy the books by James Rollins, who combines our world today with ancient stories, myths, and legends.

I would most definitely be in support of something like a D.I.C. Books/Library Section.

I'm working through Dante's The Divine Comedy now. I'm on Inferno, hoping to finish that up tomorrow. I'd like to at least get through Purgatorio before I head back to school. Ideally, I'll make time to get through Paradisio as well.

I think that the first book was definitely the best out of the series. Bean does add a new dimension to the series but the books about him seemed a bit uninteresting to me. Too much family-life drama (they seemed to lack the Sci-Fi-ness that the first book was all about) and not enough action/strategy/cool new science ideas. Those books were nearly a different genre.

I loved that book! Especially it's format. Just a collection of stories that has no real storyline.


Right now I'm considering buying The Visible Man, Nineteen Eighty-four, or Fahrenheit 451.
