I got a fever, and the only prescription is more Olympics!

Posted 30 July 2012 - 07:26 AM

Okay.. it's on like Donkey Kong! The summer Olympics are in full swing! Who's amped? How much are you glued to the coverage? It seems the media are already spinning heroic back stories and trying to make you care just that much more... but bah.. I can't get all sorts of annoyed by that! Too busy! Must watch it all!

From the Flying Squirrel Gabby Douglas... to Natalia Partyka - the one armed Polish Ping Pong player... the Dream Team basketball.. and Felps zoned out stare from the pool.

Is there any particular sport you watch more than the others? An Olympian you *heart* more than others?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I have been watching volley ball, woman's basketball, swimming, and gymnastics. Would love to watch soccer and mens basketball but I can never find it on tv.

Though I do find it odd how the chinese swimmers are dominating in some of the meets of which they never even placed in the top 20 less then 7 months ago? The speculation is doping....

Anyways volley ball is sweet-- still trying to figure out how they can jump so high in sand.

I think women's volleyball is pretty sweet. The only problem is that I keep forgetting to watch the ball...

The summer olympics are boring. I can't think of a single event that sounds fun to watch since the Europeans nixed baseball.

I can't seem to find a decent channel highlighting the shooting, archery, or judo events.. Ugh.. Blah..blah..blah.. gymnasts.. blah..blah.. swimming.. I was shocked to see women's weight lifting on.. it was a thankfully slow time slot between other "important" events.

It's a lot better here in the UK (no surprise really). We have 27 channels dedicated to nothing but the Olympics which pretty much covers every single event that's running. Probably supposed to be doing some work at the moment, but team GB in the gymnastics is getting pretty good.

How's the over all feel there? Is everyone fairly stoked - even if you are a few hours out of London and what not?

It's a lot better than I was expecting, especially considering how much it costs and all the security problems they were having a few days beforehand. I live about an hour outside London and all you see/hear is Olympics, Olympics, Olympics. Everyone at work has at least one live stream on the go at any one time. I think one of the biggest things is in advertising. There are banners up all over the place and pretty much every TV ad has something to do with it. To be honest it's all getting a bit crazy.

Thanks to the 2012 Olympics.. I realize Kazakhstan is a real country other then being in the movie "Borat"

But yeah.. a reoccurring thought while watching the Olympics is that these women have sacrificed their breasts ( especially swimming & gymnastics ) to being conditioned for their sport. Truly sad..

@shezzy - yup.. them females... what are they unless their are accompanied with their ample fun bags?

If anything they should be concerned about the potential height lost when doing the gymnastics training.. but oh well..

Watching USA women's volleyball right now at work on my iPod. It seems like I should be doing some actual work, but oh well, it's the olympics!!!

BTW for those that that are wanting to watch events and can't find them on TV, NBC should be streaming everything online or on their 2012 Olympic apps.

Not all of them are 15/16, which is another bothering fact for me ( I think thats too young and it means their parents trained them since birth like show dogs), but also..they all look like foot ball players with their shoulders equal to a defensive lineman's. If you cut their hair, you couldn't tell if they were a dude or not.

Oh.. and Ryan Lochte is a total douche bag

too young

No worse than any wrestler, football player, diver, or dancer.

Were you expecting anything less considering the sport they are in? I mean this shouldn't be *THAT* big of a shock, or is your world just populated with curvy women?
