I know it might be a bit late in the life cycle of this thread to make a comment, but I simply couldn't resist the temptation. Microsoft became great by stabbing all of it's friends in the back. Amidst the victims (the high profile ones, at least) were IBM, Netscape, and now all of it's hardware partners. Not ripping of an editorial in wired at all.
Hey did you hear about this thing called the Internet? It's kind of handy to look up research at my school, but I don't it's really going to have much more application than that. Just upgraded my RAM to 32MB, don't think I'll be needing more memory ever again.
