I am curious if any of you out there care to do a post mortem on any games you made, developed, worked on, or watch combust into a greasy char stain on the concrete?
We tend to do those in the business world a bit after a product release (even though we are supporting it for the next two forevers), but it helps squeeze a bit of knowledge, wisdom, and future pit avoidance into the next project.
I also find reading people's breakdown of how their game development went hammers home certain questions I had as well as makes me aware of hardships to plan for if I do a similar game.
Post mortems - do you do those?

Yes, I have done post mortems. I'm not sure I've ever gone into the full detail some of them do but I do tend to do them. I'd consider doing them for any major project that you finish, or don't finish that died horribly and ended up being a waste of electrons. It is always good to chronicle what went right, what went wrong, what you learned, what you will never do again.
