I Forgot my root password in my phpmyadmin..

I Forgot my root password in my phpmyadmin.. i try to retrieve it by using terminal but it seems it didnt work.. can somebody guide me about this... its my first time to encounter this problem..

I would dump the databases, reinstall phpmyadmin, & load them back.

Seriously, what kind of an admin forgets root passwords?

I know which kinds, the ones that are not admins :)

ahaha. yeah i already made it... without reinstalling phpmyadmin i still manage to reset and change my password yeah ... thanks again to never ending help of google.. ahahahahahahahahh

Are we talking about some phpMyAdmin specific password, or is this the actual MySQL root password?

If it's the latter, the MySQL manual provides details on how to recover from this.

@no2pencil : im just new in this company and the one i replace didnt tell me the passwords. thats why i cant access the database..

Thank you for sharing the solution. Most often 'forgotten' passwords are not forgotten. They are trying to get away with something.
