Plugin for Notepad++ to speed up typing

Posted 02 August 2012 - 08:38 AM

For some small project I use Notepad++

I was looking for a plugin which allows to associate sme code to a choosen keyword.
I found one, QuickText.
With QuickText I've made a try and now if I write mytable and press tab, it replaces mytable with
<table>
<tr>
<td></td>
</tr>
</table>

that's good, but there are a couple of problems: it is not possible to format the code except for the new line and the multiline tab doesn't work anymore, Notepad++ only tabs 1 line at time.

Do you know any other plugin to do the same thing, but without these problems?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Zen Coding is something I've heard a lot of hype about, and people seem to love it, but I've never had the time to bother with it myself.

The other two language variations I've heard of that speed web dev/design are HAML and SASS.

Again, take with a grain of salt, I haven't tried any of these. The hype just seems to be all over them right now.

Very nice plugin! Here is how I did it:
Look in:
QuickText.ini should be in:

\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\plugins\Config

Just played around with it and can add tabs no problem. Seems you could do any type of formatting. Your "replace text" needs to be on one line. Here is what I did.

Took your text:
<table>
<tr>
<td></td>
</tr>
</table>

Pasted into a blank notpad++ doc, and added tabs:
1 before TR, 2 before TD, and 1 before /TR, I also added \n at the end of each line (means new line). So it looks like this:

Press CTRL + A then press CTRL + J
Or
Select all text (CTRL + A) and selected menu Edit > Line Operations > Join Lines to put all on 1 line since the "replace text" needs to be on one line. Now it looks like this:

Now copy this text into the section of the ini file for the file type you want it to work on. Save it, reload Notepad++ and type mytable + tab and text gets replaced nicely formatted!

You can also copy and paste this single line of text into the language/tags under the Quicktext plugin options.

@Lemur: thanks I'll take a look to the plugins you suggest.

@GunnerInc: Now that you have QuickText installed, if u select 2 or more lines in Notepad++ and press TAB, all of the lines are tabbed, or only the one where the cursor is placed?
