The site is using the old CSS values

Posted 03 August 2012 - 05:07 PM

so I changed a couple of CSS values and when I view them in browser, any browser, it's showing the old values instead. When I used inspect element, it's showing the old value. If I look at the file directly in the browser, it shows the new value. I've tried this with both Chrome and Firefox with no avail. And yes, I've done ctrl+f5.

Here are the CSS changes: https://github.com/n...20766dfc661c083
The code can be found at that repo as well.

Here's a screenshot: http://puu.sh/OnXj

So, what gives?

This happened to me a couple times and I had to delete my cookies, cache, etc.. Try viewing the site as a 'Private session' and see if the same issue occurs.

I've found that some servers will serve old files for quite some time before updating them. I wish I had a better answer for you - I just ended up changing the ref filename and it had no choice but to grab the new file.

Oh my. This is awfully embarrassing, but I was editing the wrong file. For some reasons there are two copies of it in separate directories. It was linking to the unedited, and I was viewing the edited one.

Well, at least maybe someone searching for the same problem will be able to fix it.

Make sure to keep tracks on any optimization software you're running. QUite often I tend to forget I'm using Varnish as a proxy to my servers and get annoyed when it shows me the cached copies repeatedly.
