Programmer Jungian personality types.

Posted 03 August 2012 - 07:32 PM

I am heading into college this coming year and since I am majoring in computer science and psychology this question was raised:

What are the jungian personality type of programmers?

So I am hear to ask you out of pure curiosity to tell me what yours is.

If you don't know you can take the test here.

The test is all Yes/No questions so it souldn't take to long (took me 10 mins).

I have the type INTP.

P.S. It is not one of those stupid tests that make you put your phone number in at the end. It is a real personality inventory.

P.S.S. If you want to know more about your type this site has some good descriptions.

we had another thread like this before. lots of INTJ, B9 was one of the few INTP I think and there were some ENTP was well.

xNTx is going to be the vast majority without question I think.

Yeah that's what I thought. I give that test to all of my friends. They are ALL INTJ I have never met another INTP (T.T).

I think INTJ's just make really good programmers. We're smart and socially awkward.

I don't need a test or a quiz to put an unnecessary label on me. I'd like to believe that I'm not so easily categorized as to fall into one of 16 little squares.

My result was pretty much accurate. I'm actually OK with social events and I actually like spending time with people. The only thing is that I get bored extremely fast if that person is, well, just a simple normal person, with simple and normal desires and habits.

I remember this! Yes, I am INTP. If I remember the last one correctly, it said I'm an impatient asshole who makes others uncomfortable. Scary accurate that.

Apparently I'm INFP.

INFP - The Idealist

Quiet, reflective, and idealistic. Interested in serving humanity. Well-developed value system, which they strive to live in accordance with. Extremely loyal. Adaptable and laid-back unless a strongly-held value is threatened. Usually talented writers. Mentally quick, and able to see possibilities. Interested in understanding and helping people.

INTJ

That was rather amusing. I'd missed it before.

Thanks for the test; it was fun. I think I can only own the "I" it with any certainty. NT both being moderate, J being slight. Damn, I hate artificial dualities. Is there a letter for that? :P

The offered definition for "intuition" seems bazaar to me. Generally, intuition is the opposite of rational thought, yet here it's synonymous. The other duality is just as strange. Sounding a lot more like actual intuition, as you've disallowed the use of brain.

These categories just tell you what you tend to do. They are not 100% accurate.

INTJs and INTPs make the best programmers.

INTJs because they are very good at planning every detail ahead of time (while any type that ends with a P has trouble with) and INTPs (me) because of their ability to quickly recognize patterns that solve problems (INTJs can find patterns faster than all other types except for INTP because that is all INTPs do).

I think they mean intuition as the ability to put 1 and 1 together (for lack of a better phrase).
My brother, who is ESFP, has trouble with anything that is abstract such as.. programming algebra (the variables) and theories. So I think that is the difference between the I and the S
Typelogic is another site with definitions.
