Ok, I'm bored as hell at the moment, but i figure it could be worse, my job is very rarely boring.
So I wanted to start a competition and find out who out of all of you actually has the most boring job. (Doesn't have to be you, could be someone you know)

Reply with what you think the most boring job is and why, unless it's obvious in the title, in which case please don't bore me further.

Don't take it personally. It wasn't you, they're pretty much bored the whole time. That's why they get paid - looking interested must be pretty hard work.

When you think about it, most jobs are boring. I'm a programmer. It gets lonely, quiet, and dull locked away in my little code cave. How many HTML statements can you write before your eyelids start to droop? Sometimes you'll get a project that gets you all excited and you become a little ball of energy because it's something new and different. But mostly it's just the same shit over and over and over again. Essentially, we all get paid to do the mundane.

"Thank you. Come again."
"Do you want fries with that?"
"Have y'all decided on drinks?"
"Do you have anything that needs filed, sir?"
"Yes, I can spell check that for you."
"Your hours of operation have been updated."
"Gas went up 2 cents, go change the sign, Bobby."
"Yard needs mowed, boy."
"Welcome to Starbucks, may I take your order?"
"What size shoes are you looking for?"
"Turn your head and cough."
"Ok, class, turn to page 73..."
"We're gonna have to extract that nasty rotting tooth."
"We need to order more lumber..."

Do you really think any of these people have a thrill-a-minute job? Life in general is a constant succession of boredom and banality sprinkled with surprise moments of happiness and entertainment.

I had a graphics job a few years back where I had to outline and remove the background from EVERY. HP. PRINTER. PRODUCT. EVER. PRODUCED.

Actually one of my better work experiences, because I was a master of the pen tool (and photoshop in general) after that, and it's stood me in good stead when I've needed a quick job since then. Done some cool stuff too, although I can't talk about some of it and the rest of it's too boring to mention (no porn, coolest stuff was architectural work)
