Call me cruel, but it would be good if she did.
There's a large difference between trying to be good and something like this. I will not say to someone who draws a stick figure poorly after a year in an art program is just misunderstood, different, or otherwise. I will not say that someone who stutters on every note playing an instrument is just using excessive ruboto for emotion. Own it, they're not good at what they do.
As for the other chap who's posting code, this is not a DIC measuring contest, put it away.
On the other hand, that's a crappy interviewer if all they did was ask the candidate to show proficiency. Cripes, HR from hell anyone?
