Clientside Image Resizing

Posted 09 August 2012 - 11:14 AM

I attempting to edit a portion of our website that allows users to upload images. The issue is they are adding files that are greater than expected and we would like to re-size the image before it is uploaded to the server. After some initial research, it does not seem like this is easily accomplished bar purchasing a third party addon to VS2010. Is this assumption correct?

It's not possible to modify a file before it's uploaded without using application software such as silverlight or activex. You would have to have access to files on the client machine and that's not possible just using javascript.
