PHP game development start

Hi guys,

I've been working with PHP for a couple of years and now I think I'm ready to start building online games. I was wondering if anyone could give me a hint on where to start? any PHP game development books? Tutorials? Resources? I also worked with Java for almost an year. It would be this a better choice for web game development?

Any help will be highly apreciated :)
