Welcome!
I haven't heard of "crunchbang" as a linux flavor. What's the positives of that over say some generic platform or Ubuntu?

CrunchBang is a Debian GNU/Linux based distribution. And also has a wheezy base testing iso.
I use Crunchbang Waldorf (Debian Whezzy-Testing based.)Very good system.Using the nimble Openbox window manager, it is highly customisable ...
I think Debian also generic and big platform.Rock solid.
It's my desktop.

Ubuntu has changed a lot.Ubuntu is created a distribution to the end user. And have more packages to Debian.
But in the end ,Debian and Crunchbang uses the same repositories.Crunchbang is still Debian.
Ubuntu uses different Repo and packages.
