Looking for second opinions

Posted 20 August 2012 - 06:26 AM

Due to my gaming laptop dying recently, I've decided to buy the parts to my first gaming pc earlier than planned.
I'm still new to all this even though I have done a lot of research over the months.

Could you guys give me your opinion on this build?
My budget is 600.

Here is the build http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/f76T

Thanks for any help

Two 2gb sticks, which equals to 4 overall.

A few changes I would recommend:

6GB as 2x3GB dual channeled OR
8GB as 4x2GB with two sets of dual channel

Are you aware that the board you are looking at has integrated audio?

As Daren said, fans and plenty of them. That should be your biggest concern when picking out a case. You need to ensure adequate airflow and the right direction to provide proper ventilation.

A couple of less significant things that you may wish to consider...
Solid state hard drive - prices are coming down and you can get a decent 60-120GB for under 65 pounds. Blazing fast - run your OS and your favorite games off it, use your SATA drive for regular storage.

CPU cooling/thermal compound- be it a fan or a liquid cooling system, I usually advise people who want a gaming system to install some sort of aftermarket device. Also, using a decent compound like MX-4 or arctic silver offers an advantage over factory thermal grease etc.

One last thing. Keep in mind that this specific board doesn't support SLI/Crossfire, so you will be stuck down the road should you decide you want to add/experiment with another video card.

Happy building :)
