I am receiving spam emails, that I have no idea what are. They claim that they are "link trading", so far i've received them in English and Finnish, which I find weird, because I don't speak a word Finnish.
Some of them gets thrown out in my gmail spam filter, and some of them doesn't. The weirdest thing is though, i've never used my gmail with DIC, i've only used my hotmail.
Have anyone else been getting these?
An example:
Topic: Proposal to dreamincode.net
My name is "blank" and I was wondering if you are interested in exchange links, I'll place your link on my site exactly here:

IŽll place your link in less than 24 hours, then I'll send you an email with my info.
Regards
If you don't want to receive more mails just reply with "unsubscribe".

Nope, never received anything of this sort. Maybe when DIC was "hacked", the hacker got the email addresses of people and is now spamming them...

That actually makes a lot of sense! Just weird that they are sending stuff to my gmail, instead of the one I'm using here.
Sorry for the dobule post, but I can seem to find the "Edit" button.
It seemed very sarcastic, and I really don't mean it as sarcastic.
EDIT: Oh.. The editor is that smart....

Well, it is highly probable that I am wrong. But still, who knows? Maybe somebody else might be more sure about this.

That seems to be happening a lot on Gmail these days. I keep getting mail purportedly from my friends, but with spam inside and I get a LOT of these.

Alright. It calms me down a bit, to know that I am not the only one getting these. Thank you both for your responses!

How about contacting SkyHawk if these spam mails don't stop?

Well, I'm be no means an expert when it comes to these types of things, but if this problem exists for more than one contact in someone's list, it sounds like the sender(s) somehow is/are gaining access to the 'trusted senders' list. The OP stated that the emails aren't going to the address he/she has listed on DIC, so I don't know how the DIC hacker (Jesus, that sounds awful) would have gotten that email address.

It's a long shot, but I am using Arceopteryx everywhere. Maybe it's just a bunch of stuff thrown together from various places, and then they happened to use DIC with my Gmail. What you say makes a lot of sense though, and it's where I would put my money.
Also: Good idea Aresh. If it continues, i'll do that!
Thank you for your help, and not making fun of me, for another noobish topic on this site =)

I've been getting those emails about once a month ever since I joined DIC. It's usually towards the end of the month.
