WC: I wasn't saying that all of the anime fans & such that were interested in the classes because of it are the ones who tend to be phased out (hell, my interest in Japanese language & culture started with anime) - it's just the ones who take things too far (such as wearing Naruto headbands and the like to class, rather than presenting a professional student image) that tend to be problematic. :p

The funny thing is, while my interest in Japanese culture had originated with anime, learning about the culture and language actually shifted my interest far beyond what I'd been introduced to by anime. ^-^

Edit:
I guess overall it has more to do with maturity than anything else. It just happens that there's a fair bit of cross-over between the immature students and overly-obsessed otaku. At the same time though I've seen some very mature otaku, and some very immature non-otaku, so.. :p
