The situation: my wife and I have an HP Deskjet 1050 J410 Printer/Scanner that's hooked up to her desktop by USB. My wife's computer runs Windows 7. In printer properties, I've marked 'share printer' and in the homegroup options, share printers is enabled.
My laptop is running Windows 7, and is in the same homegroup, obviously on the same wifi network. I am able to print to the printer, but not scan from the scanner.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

Was there an installer package with the All-in-one unit?
My Workforce printer has the same features, but have to install their software that knows how to look over the network for the scanner and operate it remotely. Otherwise its just looking on your local USB ports for a scanner.
You should be able to download software from HP for it:

There software package include diagnostic tools that should help you.

I do have the software package installed on my computer. I will try reinstalling it and see if that makes a difference.
