Im in the market for a used ultra portable or netbook. Preferably a 12" screen to 13".
My list includes:
Thinkpad x300
Alienware mx11 r2
ASUS 1215n
Thinkpad x201
I want something thats powerful enough to write code with but is easy enough to get to and from school. Any other suggestions on some laptops to look for? My budget is around $300. Any help is appreciated.

Get one of the Thinkpads or the Asus, skip the Alienware (overpriced). I wouldn't recomment getting an ultrabook, they get really hot really fast and are quite expensive.

then you don't have one? how is this so hard? you either HAVE a macbook pro to use or you DO NOT HAVE a macbook pro. why would you say you have one but need something cheaper for skool? in your next post your say that's not the case at all.
just go to best buy dawg, they'll sell you some stupid bullshit that will be fine.

wow dear lordy, I don't think I've ever seen have such a selection of low-end CPUs.
base your decision on the lappy's screen, keyboard, and weight, AFTER you've determined it is NOT using an Atom CPU chip.
I'll repeat again, DO NOT program on an Atom-powered device.
just some smartass won't try to point out a useless point, I realize some people are perfectly fine and dandy programming on an Atom CPU, but please don't assume your requirements are representative of the majority (they're not).

The exact same could be said to you. I see many people writing software on them around my department. It's a perfectly fine chipset and I've even written some graphics shaders on it.
