Question that stumped me on a test

Posted 30 August 2012 - 08:56 PM

How would you retrieve a file that was deleted on a network drive from a workstation?

I got to this question and was completely baffled. Needless to say I got it wrong lol. I was wondering if any of you knew the answer or if it was a trick question

Assuming you have subversion or some other form of version control, rollbacks. Otherwise, hope that the data wasn't overwritten and that it's still recoverable with forensics tools.

I do not believe that system restore saves network storage.

How about using a software like Recuva?
There is no gaurantee that the file can be retrieved, right?

I've never heard of or used Recuva. But I do agree with the statement
"There is no guarantee that the file can be retrieved"

Well that was a question and now that you agree it has become a statement.
