What do these symbols, that appear when I am trying to design a database table in SQL AZURE, mean?

Regarding the icons, it doesn't tell you when you hover over the icon? Usually a pencil means "Edit". And judging by the use of the same symbol in the "New Query" icon in the bar at the top, I would infer that the other means "New".

With your error, it means you can't compare a field of type int to a field of type image. You're probably running a query something like this:

SELECT *
FROM MyTable AS a
INNER JOIN MyOtherTable AS b ON b.MyInt = a.MyImage
