What headphones do you use?

Posted 09 September 2012 - 09:13 PM

What headphones do you use if any? I just bought some $190 Ultrasone HFI-580's and all I can say is "wow." They sound amazing and the frequency response is great.

I rock a $20 pair of Skullcandy's. I'm actually pretty happy with Skullcandy. Yes, it's cheap and not worth it if you have a lot of money, but for people like me $20 headphones from skullcandy goes a long way.

My only gripe about them is that I get asked if I have Beats all the time. But I mean, you can sorta see why:

I had the same Skullcandy earphones for a while. They were pretty good on the audio side but the quality of the build was kind of bad. And IMHO the Beats don't have any bass below 15 hertz and the quality id okay but they aren't worth how much they're charging for them.

These are my headphones. They have a 3 meter cord with a screw on 6.3mm jack. The cord is really long but it's worth it. Posted Image

They are DJ headphones so they fold up and the headphones fold to the side.

Nothing special. A Sony Crystal Clear set and a Philips SHP 2000.

I rock a pair of skull candies over the ear style, honestly for the price they've been great headphones. I'm looking at getting a good pair of sony in ear monitors though for music as well as my day job.

For general use the same brand and line as I did fifteen years ago - Sony Fontopia. For gym use, a more water/sweat proof cheap kind. Everything else - speakers.

I use TB x12s. I bought them for my xbox 360 but they work just as well for my PC. Great sound quality for a greater price of $60

Mine were $5 on the clearance rack at Walmart. 10 years ago. Same with my mic. And my toaster. I'm a cheap bastard.

V-Moda Crossfade LP Nero

Love them, better than the Beats Audio crap and several Sennheiser stuff I tried at the time. Bass response is amazing, but not overpowering to the point of distracting from the music itself.

Sennheiser HD202
Great sound for a pretty low price. I had a much more expensive model from them for a while, but I honestly couldn't hear any difference.

And Sennheiser MX 365 when I'm moving around. (Originally bought to use while exercising... but who the hell was I trying to fool :P)

I use a pair of Grados (SR80) that I got years ago for mixing audio. I bought them specifically because cheap cans would make my ears start to get ringy after an hour or so, but I could work in these ones for a good while - they're clean enough that I don't have to turn them up very loud, which saves my ears a lot of fatigue, and in the long run keeps me from doing too much more damage to my hearing. Turns out they're also good for the office for the same reason.

I paid $100 for them ten years ago, so they're seeming like a good investment now.

They're quite low end but do the job. I used to have some Senheiser 212 HD ones, which were great, but they simply wore out from excessive use.
