Could you recommend a class or book that would teach me how to set up a web server so I can use server side languages such as Ruby, xQuery and XSLT?
I can buy books to learn the languages but they don't tell you how to set things up so you can actually USE them.

Depending on the platform - XAMPP, LAMP, MAMP, etc.. all have step by step install tutorials.
