Realistically all decisions are influenced by others. Believing that you're in complete control of your life is no more than a naive fantasy, religion or not. (ie Clients, Boss, Wife, etc.)

Mind you I ran 100+ miles a week for my first two years of College, and I'm training for Marathons and eventually an Iron Man. You don't need to lecture most people on this site about how they choose to spend their time, they're fully aware.
