Masters Degree After Computer Science

Posted 14 September 2012 - 12:03 PM

Guys, I want to pursue a masters degree after my bachelors degree in computer science but frankly I'm confused which direction to go.

Some ideas:
1) Computational Finance
2) Bioinformatics
3) Biomedical Engineering
4) Some other field of finance

Have any of you done the above and please would you tell me about it? How it ended up financially? Were you happy? It wasn't a waste of time, etc etc..

I would like to do mostly programming on the job and not too much algorithm development.

Thanks guys.

Here's the only algorithm you need:

For each program in {possible programs}
  for each course in {program}
    program.total_excitement += course.wow_factor

sort programs from high to low by total_excitement
for each program in the sorted list:
  if program.potential_earnings >= sufficient
    return program

throw too_fussy_exception

I'm sure you were confused at one point in your life like everyone else. Instead of giving me a normal legit answer, you threw a crappy piece of python pseudocode. Why even bother responding?

List<String> potential_smart_asses = new ArrayList<String>();
potential_smart_asses.add("Jon Kiparsky");

boolean smart_ass_exists = potential_smart_asses.get(0).equalsIgnoreCase("Jon Kiparsky");

if(smart_ass_exists)
     fckUrself(potential_smart_asses.get(0));

public static void fckUrself(String smart_ass)
{
   for(;;)/>
     System.out.println("Go fcuk yourself " + smart_ass);
}

I have never done any of those since i work in the mortgage industry. I can tell you that working in mortgages is an intersting area since everything has to be done yesterday and it is always your fault that the bank's interfaces do not work the way they program them.

The biomedical field sounds interesting to me though but alas that is for you to decide.

try interning at one of the above fields to get a feel for it.

This isn't even the right section. Also, personal attacks are not tolerated. I'm closing this thread.
