How to use filters in VB 6.0

Hi! I am new in vb. Can some body help me to understand how to use filters, what are they used for? Cause i dont understand them?

What do you mean by Filters? Ones like the filters in a dialog box? I can't really answer the question until you say what you are trying to use them in.

Filters which i can use in a combob box for searching.
