I didn't say it was a negative, I simply corrected your mis-statement. You implied that Daren was wrong to say

Quote

you also have to pay to get the apple dev kit

when you said

Quote

You do realize that XCode is free, right?

That is true, the xcode software us free. However, the implication is not true: Apple does charge developers for the privilege of developing to their platform. So yes, you do have to buy the "dev kit" if you want to develop for the me platform. I didn't say anything about whether this was a good thing or a bad thing, or whether Apple is the only one who does this (they aren't) or anything else.

Now stop trying to argue with me, I don't give a shit what platform you develop for or what big corporation's T-shirt you want to wear. It's fine, do what you like, just stop arguing at me.

If you don't care, why are you involved? I'm just saying that the "Apple imposes fees on developers" claim doesn't stand alone. It's made with the implication that Android is better because it doesn't have a fee. The reverse is true: No fee means loads of crappy software and malware. A fee keeps the garbage developers at bay and helps to create a system to protect against malware. That's a huge win for iOS, not a small negative!

Okay, so I guess this is as close as we're going to get to you admitting that your original claim was wrong. I'll take it.

Fine, now go on singing your fanboy song, this is fun. Could you get in a verse about how confusing it is to hear doctrinaire liberals stridently defending "the people who are harming the US by shipping jobs out of the country"?

Huh? Just because some one claims to be protecting the Constitution you're assuming they are? Beware of flag wavers. They do things like set up "emergency managers" to replace Democracy, and they do it right here in the USA. Google this: michigan emergency manager law

I think you may have missed the point of my last post. Look at your sig. Look at your posts. If you still don't get it, look at your iPhone and see if you can find a "made in the USA" label on it.

EDIT: never mind, aresh is right. Life's too short for this.

Oh, I'm not at all pleased that Apple produces virtually everything it makes outside the US. I'm not happy that the same is true for any other electronics maker, clothing maker, etc. I don't blame an individual company though.

I blame politicians who are too willing to cater to corporate interests on a larger scale. When these politicians tell us that we have to compete in the "free market" but they let Communist China rig their currency and subsidize their exporters to the point where Americans have to compete with $2/hour labor I have a problem with that. Then these same people who are helping Communists at the expense of Americans call Obama a Socialist! All that before they start wiping out Democracy in small towns across the midwest.

Just because I want to shit on your doorstep, and because I can - I have one question for you. Some of the biggest moguls, investors, lobbyists and richest men in America are flaming socialist liberals like Obama. - Warren Buffett and Little Billy Gates are two of the most prominent. These cock-knockers are the same moguls you are whining about in your rant about "Free Market" and Capitalism. So instead of bagging on Republicans/Democrats - why not make a real difference in the world and start a protest like the rest of the 35% of the hipsters that populate our planet?

I am more the supporter of the android OS, because of it's down to earth openness, and badass apps. I have never tried the Apple iPhone, iPad, iThis, iThat, but I don't hate or downgrade their products, because it took a long time for someone to develop and perfect them. I only don't like their business strategy, which is frankly... kinda fascist.

Wow. I wonder, would you say the same thing about Coke if Pepsi started bottling their soda using the same shape as a Coca Cola bottle so they sued? After all, Coke didn't invent curved glass, did they? Is it now Fascism to protect your patents, trade marks, and trade dress?

POPULAR

pepsi and coke do bottle their soda's in very similar shaped bottles.

It's called "bottle shaped".

I'm sorry, but "rectangular with curved corners" is not a unique shape... it's a simple geometric shape. I drew that shit in Kindergarten, I should know.

I wouldn't call it fascist though, but that's because I know what fascism means.

I think both companies would strongly disagree.

What's more, I've no doubt that if you were to start your own soda company and use either of their shapes, you'd end up losing in court if your lawyers couldn't convince you to choose another shape.
