How to make a table in a webpage with content that is hidden?

Posted 23 September 2012 - 09:30 PM

[size="5"]I am keen to find out how to hide keywords in the body of a webpage so that the 'keyword Meta tag' can have them included and they will be functional.

ie: I create a 'table' at the beginning of the source code that contains keywords that I want to include but that are not necessarily included in the text of the visible content of the page. This table will have to be 'hidden' for obvious reasons. Can anyone tell me how I would go about doing this, please?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I honestly would hope no one does, its bad form and really fairly useless. Either have good content plus good keywords. Don't trick a search alg to pick your page.

Thanks for your thoughts, but unfortunately they were not very helpful. :sad3:

Its hard to help with keywords without knowing what the page is about, maybe a bit more incite, is it a blog? a how to site? or a product page?

Hello, and thanks for your response.. The keywords will refer briefly to what is involved in general in certain ebooks that will be available on my site for free download.. Each eBook will have a separate page but it will not be possible to have all of the pertinent keywords included in the text of the visible introduction. I thought, in that case, it would be best - if possible - to have a 'hidden' table or 'segment' included in the sourcecode that contains more relevant words. It will not be logical to have this table visible on the loaded page for obvious reasons, however, if it could be hidden but still be visible to the crawlers and robots etc then the objective would be realised. Of course that table would still be visible to anyone who wanted to take a look at the sourcecode, but that is really of no importance. If you have any suggestions (be nice) I would greatly appreciate your input. And thanks in advance.

Perhaps hide your text behind an image.

Thanks for this tip. Much appreciated.. I'll give it a try and see what happens. But, is there no way to simply hide a table? In some forms parts (identification and description etc) are/can be hidden and they are basically tables in fact. Your further advice there would be appreciated.

I'm pretty new with web design but I found a good source, and there is a way.

This site shows a bunch of other ways how to hide text and also shows reasons why it may be a bad idea.

Hello again,
That was a very valuable response and Thanks a lot for taking the time. It is evident from those links that I should abandon the idea of hiding text or a frame containing keywords.
Thanks again.
