I am a student at DePauw University majoring in Computer Science with a minor (I know, who cares?) in Political Science. I am also a full-time activist who works to mix my two fields of study into the work that I do in society. I hope to work in the non-profit sector as a director of technology or communications soon after completing my degrees.
I also manage a small Joomla! Web Design company, Refined Sites, that works to provide simple, clean, and effective websites to small businesses and non-profit organizations. I focus on hiring high school and college students with unique skill-sets so that they can graduate with a firm resume and job skills beyond those of someone who simply got their degree without experiential learning.
Lastly, I am very invested in civic engagement, and see community service as a core part of my life. I have served as the Director of Technology for a local community center, and I work on-call as and "IT Specialist" for several non-profit organizations in my community. While I don't hold the certifications that one might expect from an individual in my position, I support my role with experience and education. Those who are willing to look past the degrees and signatures are those organizations that need my help the most, and I very much enjoy serving those communities.
I am joining this site in hopes of being able to draw from the broad range of wisdom found here. I also hope that, although I'm still in the early stages of learning what is discussed within these forums, I might be able to enrich this community with any small bits of information that I have to offer.
So, in summary, hi
