At least most of the deer in this slide-show were courteous enough to cross at the signs.

Jurors returned the verdict Monday in Marquette federal court. Jerry Flanory claims he lost a tooth in 2006 and suffered gum disease because he was denied toothpaste as a punishment for not attending prison classes.
But the Corrections Department had evidence that Flanory’s bad tooth wasn’t a new problem. He had only five of the typical 32 teeth when he entered prison. Officials said he had access to toothpaste.
Flanory’s lawsuit alleging cruel punishment was dismissed as frivolous in 2009, but an appeals court reinstated it. The 60-year-old from Flint served as his own attorney

The accused, Medula Rajender, 42, of Malyala village in Chandurthi mandal sold his wife Medula Ammayi, 36, to the broker on October 13 to meet his liquor expenses. Daily wager Rajender found it hard to buy liquor and struck a deal with the broker to sell his wife.
On Saturday morning, he forcibly took her to Chandurthi where he left her at the bus station and told her to wait for the broker. "I was shocked when he told me that he had sold me for Rs 6,000 to the broker in Kortula. He even bought a bus ticket to Korutla for me and left the place," recalled a crying Ammayi.

Apparently, that's her there on the right.
Insofar as the deer crossing story goes...I'm exceptionally skeptical. That's such an old joke that I find it tough to believe that it actually garners believers when done on the air. It sounds genuine enough but I dunno. I know that level of stupid is out there but that's one of your older urban legend type stories come to life.

Joshua Troutt, 13, said he and three other students were playing a game on the iPad in class when one of the students pressed a button and a photograph of the teacher's partially bare chest was revealed.
"It's not our fault that she had the photo on there," Troutt said. "We couldn't do anything not to look at it, if it just popped up when he pressed the button. It was her fault that she had the photo on there. Her iPhone synched to it. She had to have pressed something to make all of her photos synch on there."
Anderson police said Thursday that investigators determined that the picture was "from the neck down, with partial exposure."
"Since the material was not pornographic in nature and no other criminal violation could be gleaned from the evidence as presented, the matter was turned over to the school and the police investigation closed," Detective Joel Sandefur said in a statement.
...
Troutt's mother said she doesn't believe that's fair.
"In all reality, you'd think (the teacher would) be fired. That's a nude picture in the school that the students saw," Nicole Troutt said. "(My son) didn't even touch the iPad. Another kid pulled up the picture on the iPad. He never touched it, period."

“In fact, he tried to kill her,” Cassidy said.

Meanwhile, the Henry Doorly Zoo, which has a strong and historic background in breeding big cats, wanted to breed Natalia before she got too old.
The zoo found a potential mate at the Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend, Ind. Its male leopard, Preston, is father material; he was bred successfully in 2007 and 2010.
...
If the pair take to each other, they will be allowed to mate when Natalia goes into heat.
“Once they start, they can breed 20 or 30 times a day,” Cassidy said. “It's not for the faint of heart. It's straightforward stuff, but there can be a lot of noise.”
After breeding, they will be separated again, Cassidy said. “Males and females rarely stay together.”
...
Because of its widely known success in breeding big cats, the Henry Doorly Zoo is often consulted by other institutions.
“Fewer and fewer people have the knack” for successful breeding, Cassidy said.
