Hi, I have recently created a program to assist downloading and installing a few files. Because of this, whenever users download the file from my site they get all sorts of warnings from Chrome, Norton and more that it's a virus. I'm assuming this is because I have code in there that deletes and moves files around.

Is there anyway or tips so that I can stop Anti Virus programs thinking it's a virus?

Have you tried MyProgram.AntiVirus.Detection = FALSE? Just kidding ! How different anti-virus solutions evaluate other aplications, is really out of your scope. If someone, who created anti-virus software thinks, that deleting and moving files is potentially dangerous for end user, especially if they are not prompted to confirm such actions, then the most you can do, is to implement such options to your app.

Haha cheers bro! Well, if that's the case do you think I should just release the program and let people know that it's not a virus? I'm in a sticky situation now because the program will be downloaded by lots of people but I don't want to risk people being able to use the program because Norton thinks it's a virus when it's not.

There are many other programs out there, from games to P2P software, and so on, that most anti-virus software would claim is buggy. All they do is have someonthing in their installer which says 'Please turn off your anti-virus. It may detect this application as malware or whatever."

The only solid way would be to contact the major antivirus vendors and have them whitelist your final production app. Anything else short of that would be an exploit used by those of ill will. The other possibility is your app *IS* a un/intentional virus carrier.

And let's not forget that anti-virus generally isn't very smart.

Why don't you just do what Modi stated, and then implement some kind of documentation, in bits, to notify the user that certain functions will be performed, and that their anti-virus may find it threatening when in fact it is not.
