create .NET project (i.e. .exe)

I have never used visual studio or worked with the .net framework.

I am trying to create a .NET project (i.e. .exe) using visual studio express 2012.

When I open a new project I am not given the option of this.....

Is this available in Visual studio express 2012?

Yeah when you compile your project folder should have a 'bin' folder. Depending on the compile settings (debug or release in the dropdown on the IDE) you should find your exe (and related files) in one of those folders.
