As Sergio pointed out, the buoyant force will surely limit his speed. But even with the speed he will have, the buoyant force, which acts opposite to direction of velocity, will exert a very large force on him - enough to kill him long before he touches the ground. So yeah, Modi's faith is in the wrong place.

Yes.. it's shocking that the set times for this event to go off have been pushed back by the small and insignificant of things like weather. I mean it's not like weather's is going to be a problem when clearing 120,000 feet in free fall or nothing.

after he reaches his top speed -- he uses a type of chute that will slow his decent down. Read about him and you will see the equipment he uses and how it is used.

All that is fine, but when - if - he reaches his top speed, the buoyant force will be very large, since it is proportional to velocity. So technically, the force exerted on his body by air should be enough to destroy him.

That's where his pressure suit comes in handy. It is a solid, sealed suit designed so that when the pressure from opening his chute pulls him to pieces, all the pieces collect inside the sealed suit for extraction and reassembly later.

Thank you for the links modi, It's interesting to read how he will actually slow down as he falls. After reading the article, I'll go with he'll survive the jump if he ever actually attempts it.

this is wrong he only jumped from a measly 19 miles on his other attempt... his new one is 23 miles.-----he was a slacker on his 1st try
