Here is a design I'm working on:



Now, I don't think the individual elements that I've made are bad, but the way I've positioned them... I just don't think it works, it's always like this. Individually the things I design, I don't mind, but how I put together, I really dislike. How can I get a sense of where to position things, techniques and such (I know experience plays a part in this, but please refrain from suggesting that)?

As a side note, what do you think of the design so far?
